Challenge

The bank needed to securely store and instantly access ATM surveillance footage without using cloud storage or internet transmission, while maintaining cellular connectivity and scaling across thousands of machines—all on existing hardware.

Key Results

  • 5,000 ATMs deployed with Watcher NVR.
  • Synthetic load tests confirmed scalability to 10,000 devices.
  • All devices update automatically, with daily deployments.

About the Project

Client's Goal

As the bank deployed new camera-equipped ATMs across its network, it needed to solve a critical security paradox: how to give investigators instant access to surveillance footage while keeping all video storage completely offline. Their in-house AI could analyze fraud patterns, but the system required 100% local storage with zero internet exposure, simple search-by-ATM-number functionality, cellular-network access without internet dependency, and seamless scalability - all while maximizing existing hardware investments across thousands of machines.

Our Solution

We developed Watcher NVR—a secure, hardware-agnostic system that stores video locally on ATMs while enabling instant access via a web interface. Built on our Flussonic Watcher platform, it combines a Central Portal for unified management (with search, playback, and audit trails) with lightweight Software Video Recorders that run on existing Linux servers.

The solution maintains full offline storage with RAID redundancy, provides cellular-based access without VPNs or internet exposure, and scales effortlessly across thousands of ATMs—all while monitoring camera health and storage status automatically.

Results

Watcher NVR has proven its reliability and is now running in production with seamless updates.
